Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to White House
President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Tragic Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Offer
The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Community members assembled over the past few days at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her former high school, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease providing entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” he told the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
