Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
