Within the intensely cutthroat arena of video games, it's common for emerging rivals to fade away as rapidly as they burst on to the landscape.
Yet this new installment is striving to change that.
This is the most recent addition in a long-standing combat FPS series frequently positioned as a grittier answer to the CoD series.
The franchise has never quite managed to match its top competitor in aspects of revenue or user base, but indicators suggest the latest version could reduce the distance.

Responding To Past Mistakes
The new release follows the heels of the sci-fi Battlefield 2042, launched in the past to a poor reception it struggled to overcome.
"We most likely couldn't make and develop Battlefield 6 without the insights we had in Battlefield 2042," she explains to us.
Among those lessons was to involve the community participating soon, and the developers launched exclusive community testing sessions in recent months.
This "response was explosively favorable," comments Rebecka.
Another absent ingredient from the previous installment was a solo experience, which has been brought back this time around.
The Guildford team design director Fas Salim is the one tasked with "ensuring those stages are as enjoyable and engaging as possible for the gamers."
Despite claims that the scope of the project had put a strain on the multiple studios partnering globally to develop the title, Fas is upbeat about the work.
"Partnering with varied backgrounds, varied backgrounds, it's a truly engaging environment to be involved in every day," he explains.
"The complete approach has been an innovation but additionally very inspiring because we are partnering with people from internationally."
Concerning the pressure on the team, the director comments: "There is stress but at the same time it's thrilling.
"We're dealing with a big venture. It's probably the largest that many of us have previously worked on."
Young Artist Contributes New Insight
This is certainly true of a minimum of an individual developer, lighting artist Vlad Kokhan.
The 21-year-old makes the atmospheric effects that influence the tone, style, and narrative of the solo experience.
He finished an internship at Criterion prior to getting a position with them, and currently works on a part-time basis while completing his VFX studies at the university.
He states he's a long-standing supporter of the franchise, and recollects playing the previous game of the line at a friend's house when he was in his youth.
Working on it at present, as his first career position, "is hard to believe as real."
"It's very amazing seeing the promotion everywhere," he comments.
"Realizing that I have contributed my individual work into the game is very surreal."
